The invitations are out for our upcoming stakeholders meeting on the Central Market. The first encounter will be held next Thursday on the windy second floor terrasse of the Rio restaurant in the market – we have invited local traders, florists, fish sellers, banana traders, wheelers and dealers, social activists, distributors, and a few others.
This initiative is somewhat an experiment for all those involved – especially given that the trends of participatory urbanism have yet to hit Barranquilla. There is however one thing we know for sure: the locals from the market have a multitude of stories, experiences and insights that are priceless. If we want to develop scenarios for the future of the market that are both meaningful and grounded – we had better listen to them carefully!
